Sample Funding/CEU Request Letter for Foster Parents

Hello, [NAME],

I’m interested in attending a Trust Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) course facilitated by OrphanWise, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that specializes in training adoptive/foster parents and child welfare professionals in trauma-informed caregiving methods.

TBRI® is an attachment-based method for addressing the unique needs of children who have experienced trauma.  It is currently listed on the California Evidence-Based Clearinghouse for Child Welfare (CEBC) registry, and is rated as being highly relevant in the child welfare system based upon the program being designed to meet the needs of children, youth, and families receiving child welfare services. TBRI® is also rated as a Promising Practice in the topic area of Mental Health Prevention and Treatment by the Title IV-E Prevention Services Clearinghouse, developed in accordance with the Family First Prevention Services Act

For more information, you can view a short, animated infographic about TBRI®, here.  Additionally, one testimonial that I’ve found particularly impactful is that of the Christensen family, who sought out TBRI® to address their adopted daughter’s problem behavior and, after 10 years of implementation, can authoritatively speak to the program’s efficacy.

The entire cost for a four-week program is $80, which includes seven potential hours of continuing education for foster parents.  Prior to registration, I wanted to confirm that [AGENCY NAME] would provide CEUs for successful completion of the course, as well as request [full/partial] funding for this training.

I’m happy to provide more information, if needed; alternatively, please feel free to reach out directly to OrphanWise for more details.  The facilitator of this particular course can be reached at katie@careequip.org, and she should be able to answer any questions you might have.

Sincerely,
