Family Coaching
Here to help.
For foster, adoptive and biological parents alike, raising a child who exhibits significant behavioral issues can be a frustrating, isolating experience.
At OrphanWise, we believe there is hope for the child in your life who has experienced trauma — and we are here to accompany your family through the highs and lows of the caregiving journey.
Through our individualized TBRI® coaching sessions, OrphanWise provides intensive support and personalized counsel to families in crisis. In these sessions, we empower parents to discover and leverage their family’s unique strengths, address their challenges and, ultimately, reduce domestic conflicts that arise from children’s problem behaviors.
By setting specific, realistic goals and working with a coach to achieve them, caregivers are empowered to take an active role in their child’s healing.
As a result of these sessions, parents will be equipped to:
- Understand how trauma chemically and physically impacts developing brains.
- Recognize children’s common problem behaviors as survival strategies that have outlasted their initial use.
- Address the emotional needs of both foster and biological children.
- Administer compassionate, effective correction.
- Learn critical self-regulation strategies designed to decrease stress and promote healthy communication within the family.
Coaching and Psychotherapy
TBRI® coaching sessions and psychotherapy differ in a few key ways. TBRI® coaching focuses on decreasing your stress by learning new ways to manage challenging situations with your children. The goal is to help you gain confidence in your parenting decisions using trauma informed care. TBRI® coaching also works to improve the relationship between you and your children using strategies that involve connecting with, empowering, and correcting your child in ways that disarm fear and promote healing from trauma.
Psychotherapy is a health service that includes mental health practitioners with training and experience in diagnosing and treating emotional and psychological problems. The coaching provided does not include psychotherapy or any other health care service.
